Action camera or 360 camera?
A regular action camera points one way, like any camera. A 360 camera records in every direction at once, so you can reframe after the fact and the selfie stick disappears from the shot. The trade-off is more editing and lower sharpness once you crop to a normal frame. If you film sport from a helmet or a bike, a regular action camera is simpler. If you film travel, skiing or anything where you don't know where the action will be, 360 is magic.

Tips
- Older models are a bargain. When a new GoPro or DJI arrives, last year's model often drops a lot. Each camera's page shows its price history.
- Batteries. Cold weather drains them fast. A spare is the best accessory you can buy.
- Memory cards. 4K at high frame rates needs a fast card. Look for V30 or faster.
