Lumix TZ99 overview

The Panasonic Lumix TZ99 is a 20.3 MP 1/2.3-inch compact camera with a built-in lens, announced by Panasonic in December 2024.

Going by its spec sheet, it suits travel and everyday carry. It is a weaker pick for rain and dust, all-day shooting on one battery, and paid jobs that need a backup card.

New, it sells for £519 in the United Kingdom (Harrison Cameras); used and refurbished copies start at £349.99.

Worth comparing it with the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS, Sony Cyber-shot HX99 and Panasonic Lumix TZ300.

Low light & noise

1.2 µm pixels

20.3 MP on a 1/2.3" sensor, ISO up to 3,200

Bigger pixels gather more light each, so they tend to show less noise at high ISO, but sensor design matters as much. For real noise at ISO 6400, these sites measure it:

How it stacks up

  • 20.3 MP — more resolution than 92% of the 1/2.3" compact (fixed lens) cameras we list
  • 380 shots — longer battery life than 91% of the 1/2.3" compact (fixed lens) cameras we list
