D-Lux 7 overview
The Leica D-Lux 7 is a 17 MP Micro Four Thirds compact camera with a built-in lens, announced by Leica in November 2018. It has been followed by the Leica D-Lux 8.
Going by its spec sheet, it suits travel and everyday carry. It is a weaker pick for rain and dust, all-day shooting on one battery, and paid jobs that need a backup card.
No store we track in Europe lists it today. It is listed in the United States.
Worth comparing it with the Leica D-Lux 8, Sony RX100 VII and Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II.

Low light & noise
3.6 µm pixels
17 MP on a micro four thirds sensor, ISO up to 25,600
Bigger pixels gather more light each, so they tend to show less noise at high ISO, but sensor design matters as much. For real noise at ISO 6400, these sites measure it:
- Photons to Photos: dynamic range vs ISO ↗Photographic dynamic range measured at every ISO, bodies on one chart
- Photons to Photos: noise vs ISO ↗Read noise at every ISO from lab tests: lower is cleaner in the shadows
