EOS R8 Mark II overview

The Canon EOS R8 Mark II is a 24.2 MP full-frame mirrorless camera for Canon RF, announced by Canon in September 2026.

Going by its spec sheet, it suits vlogging and selfies, video, wildlife and sport, and low light. It is a weaker pick for all-day shooting on one battery and paid jobs that need a backup card.

Worth comparing it with the Nikon Z5II, Sony α7C II and Panasonic Lumix S5 II.

Low light & noise

6.0 µm pixels

24.2 MP on a full frame sensor, ISO up to 102,400

Bigger pixels gather more light each, so they tend to show less noise at high ISO, but sensor design matters as much. For real noise at ISO 6400, these sites measure it:

How it stacks up

  • 40 fps — faster bursts than 86% of the full frame mirrorless cameras we list
  • 546 g — lighter than 80% of the full frame mirrorless cameras we list
  • 7.5 stops — more stabilisation than 62% of the full frame mirrorless cameras we list
