X4 overview
The Insta360 X4 is a 72 MP 1/2-inch 360° camera with a built-in lens, announced by Insta360 in April 2024. It has been followed by the Insta360 X5; both are still sold.
Going by its spec sheet, it suits travel and everyday carry, landscape and detail, bad weather, and water and adventure. It is a weaker pick for paid jobs that need a backup card and eye-level shooting in bright sun.
New, it sells for A$577.27 to A$747.99 at the 5 stores we track in Australia that have it in stock; used and refurbished copies start at A$549. Over the last 90 days it has usually cost A$577 to A$631 new.
Worth comparing it with the Insta360 X5, Insta360 X3 and GoPro MAX2.

Low light & noise
0.7 µm pixels
72 MP on a 1/2" sensor, ISO up to 6,400
Bigger pixels gather more light each, so they tend to show less noise at high ISO, but sensor design matters as much. For real noise at ISO 6400, these sites measure it:
